Not to my taste September 1, 2010 Sneezer Tulane I bought Columela because it had gotten such praise from other reviewers and on other websites. I did a blind taste test of the Columela against my favorite olive oil from O&Co, which is, admittedly, somewhat more expensive. I did not like the Columela. My bottle does not have a fruity taste. Instead, it is somewhat bitter, and I found the taste somewhat unpleasant. I would much rather pay a little more and get a much tastier oil from O&Co.
This Is Only My Opinion August 31, 2010 B. Alexander (Crofton, MD United States) This Columela olive oil tastes like it must have crack in it. It is so damn good that my inclination is to drink it straight out of the bottle while the pasta is still cooking!! Columela is too expensive to do an every day stir-fry, but it is BY FAR the best EVOO that I have found for "fancier" pastas and meals.
Fast shipment, and the bottles were very well protected. You've got yourself a repeat customer.
GOOD STUFF! August 28, 2010 Book Lover (Illinois) When I read my Cook's Illustrated review of this olive oil, I just had to try it. Low and behold, my local grocery store actually had it! They never have things I need/want, so I grabbed 3 bottles of it and it's true...this olive oil is phenomenal. It has a very mild flavor. No bitter aftertaste either. This is the olive oil you use on salads and dipping bread. It's truly fantastic stuff! I am running low, so when I was at my grocery store the other day I went to grab 3 more bottles AND THEY DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE! That's why I'm here...to buy more on Amazon...my go-to-store-when-my-USELESS-grocery-store-stops-selling-things-I-must-have. Amazon ROCKS. I knew I would find this here. If you're looking for some very good olive oil, look no further. This is it.
Great olive oil July 10, 2010 S. Sarsfield (Mississippi) Top rated by Cooks Illustrated, my trusted equipment and ingredient authority. It's certainly a full flavored olive oil.
Smooth and silky June 12, 2010 Sonja M. Ferrera 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pronounced olive flavor with lovely herbaceous undertones. Tastes good by itself and leaves no aftertrace of bitterness on the tongue. Even though the percentage of acidity is not stated on the bottle (it sure would be nice if companies were obligated to put this on the label), it is obviously low in acid which is a desirable quality in good olive oil.
I would recommend.
